Dear Family,
I love you all so much! Sorry I didn't write yesterday. Whenever there is a holiday that closes the Public Libraries we move P-day to Tuesday since most missionaries write home from libraries. We are lucky enough to use a College campus. It is free and close to our apartment. So that's why I didn't write yesterday. It is kinda like a transfer week with me writing on Tuesday.
It also has another similarity because Elder Carpenter is getting Transferred tomorrow. He is leaving to take the place of another missionary that will be coming to be my companion. They were supposed to switch at Transfers three weeks ago but since Elder Carpenter was in the hospital he stayed with me until the doctors were all done with him. Last Tuesday he got his staples taken out so President called on Sunday and told him he was leaving. So he is spending today packing. Next week I will tell you who my new companion is. I will really miss him. I have gotten very accustomed to having him around. We have been together for about four months now. That is the longest time I have been with one companion since Elder Lauck. And now he is leaving.
So big news for the week: we had three investigators come to Sacrament Meeting on Sunday! It was amazing. Two of the three have baptismal dates for the 16 of February! It is amazing. One was Italo Inanami. He is a Brazilian of Japanese descent that speaks Spanish. The other lady with a baptismal date is Christina Jeffries. She is a single mother with two little boys. She is from Honduras and is the friend of Sister Elizabeth Alvarado, a recent convert from three moths ago. Sister Alvarado is AMAZING. She seems like she has been baptized for years. She is also working with another one of her friends named Brenda Guzman. She is also a single mother and is having troubles with her husband. They both need the Gospel so bad and are very receptive right now. The other man that came to Church is the friend of another member that we are working with. They are both from Ecuador. The man's name is Alfonzo Estrella and the members name is Brother Bermeo. They are both neat me.
The Lord has blessed us so much. I am sorry that Elder Carpenter is leaving when so much is going on. I hope I can do everything I need to without him. I am excited to see who my next companion will be.
Some more big news is that our Mission is growing. It will soon become the Florida Ft. Lauderdale/ Bahamas Mission. They will be adding the Bahamas and the Grand Cayman Islands. We don't know exactly when that will happen but it will be soon. It is really neat. But I don't know how much Spanish is spoken there so I don't know how much it will affect me personally. But that is amazing for the Mission. I love my Mission. It is so great.
I love this work. I love it so much. I truly hope that I can make this experience a part of me so that it won't completely stop in a year when I take off the tag. I really want to become a missionary who knows his purpose. If any of you don't know what a missionaries purpose is, look it up in Preach My Gospel. It is vitally important. And It won't just be my purpose for the next year. It is my purpose for the rest of my life. I bring people to Christ. And I invite each of you to make the missionary purpose your purpose. That is the most important work any of us can do. I love you all so much and I know that God lives and guides us today through a living prophet and through personal revelation. We have the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is a wonderful, unique blessing and opportunity.
You are all great and I love you so much. Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and love.
Con amor,
Elder Kevin Reece
